The Data Intensive Research Initiative of South Africa (DIRISA) will be hosting its second annual Student Datathon Competition. In 2019, the Datathon competition was attended by students from the following universities and high schools:

  • University of Johannesburg (UJ)
  • Tshwane University of Technology (TUT)
  • North West University (NWU)
  • University of Limpopo (UL)
  • Sol Plaatjie University (SPU)
  • University of Mpumalanga (UMP)
  • Lehlabile High School
  • Tsako Thabo High School

Purpose

The DIRISA student datathon is a competition that is organised by the Data Intensive Research Initiative of South Africa (DIRISA) to showcase how open research data can be used to come up with creative and innovative solutions to some of South Africa’s problems.
